Antonio Conte has compared Alvaro Morata to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba – although he admits that the pair are very different players.
Morata has been settling in well to life at Stamford Bridge following his move to the west London side from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
The Spanish forward has been a regular fixture in the starting line-up at Stamford Bridge and has showed no signs of struggling to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League following his move.
Morata scored nine goals and made four assists in his first 15 appearances for Chelsea in the Premier League.
Drogba is one of the west London club’s greatest all time players and although Conte admits that Morata has some way to go to try and follow in his footsteps, he feels that the Spanish striker has a huge amount of potential.
Speaking at a news conference at Cobham on Friday, Conte said: “Two different players, different characteristics.
”Didier Drogba, I think, he wrote the history of this club. He’s a wonderful player, a wonderful striker.
“I think he’s more powerful than Alvaro, but Alvaro, don’t forget, has a lot of space for improvement.
“He’s strong physically, is a technical player. I see a great future for Alvaro.”
Chelsea will take on Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League after the draw was made in Nyon last week.
The west London side return to League Cup action next week when they host Bournemouth in the quarter-final clash at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night
